Sozopol information:
Sozopol is one of the oldest towns on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast line located 34 km south of Bourgas. It's quite a lovely place, especially the historical part with all those limestone houses, windmills, narrow streets and cobbled pavements. The sea-facing streets are lined with small restaurants and cafes.
Sozopol used to be called Apolonia. The city was renamed Sozopol with the beginning of Christianity. The name means "City of Redemption" after the name of Apolon the Savior.
Today Sozopol is a popular beach resort best known for its casual atmosphere, sandy beaches, and distinctive stone and wood houses from the Bulgarian National Revival Period, some of which are national cultural monuments.
